our education programs

Through a variety of initiatives, including pre-k through high school outreach, a free instrument library, scholarships, internships, and the youth orchestra, the Festival offers no-cost music education opportunities to youth throughout the community. These programs are designed to inspire and educate, offering young people the opportunity to explore their musical interests and develop their skills.

  • In its third year, the no-cost Pre-K Outreach program expanded to three pre-schools, reaching 86 students annually.

  • With over two decades of operation, the free Youth Orchestra is the Festival’s longest-running education program, with 24 students currently enrolled.

  • The Instrument Library, open year-round and free for all ages, features 52 instruments and an extensive variety of accessories.

  • As an extension of the Instrument Library, the Festival has provided 14 trombones in support of the LPOSD sixth-grade band program, granting over 300 students the opportunity to learn and play trombone at no cost.

  • The Festival’s scholarship offerings have grown substantially, now including five annual scholarships with $9,000 in potential awards to Bonner and Boundary County students.

“The Educational Outreach Program from the Festival at Sandpoint is outstanding. It is unique in that very young children are actively engaged in learning about music. We are extremely fortunate to have such an opportunity for our children in Sandpoint, and I am very grateful to have had these lessons at Selkirk School.”
